Adoption Process & Fees

Adoption Process & Fees

Our adoption process begins with an adoption application. This will need to be filled out and submitted online prior to scheduling a meet and greet with your new pet. Once you have filled it out you will be contacted by a Colorado Rescue Tails volunteer to set up the meet and greet. If all goes well at your meet and greet then you will be able to complete your adoption contract, pay your adoption fees, and take your newest family member home at the time. When filling out your adoption contract you will be provided copies of all of your pets medical records, and microchip information.

Adopting a Dog:

Adoption fees vary based on the dogs age, and the amount of vetting completed. We will do our best to have each dog fully vetted before adoption (Spayed/Neutered, Rabies vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, DHPP vaccine, Deworming and microchipped) However if the dog you are adopting is a new arrival awaiting a spay/neuter appointment, or a puppy not of age to be safely altered, you will be required to fill out a spay/neuter agreement and pay a $50 spay/neuter deposit. This $50 is fully refunded as soon as you send us proof of their spay/neuter.

  • Adoption Fees: $300 – $350

Adopting a Cat:

Adoption fees vary based on the cats age, and the amount of vetting completed. We will do our best to have each cat fully vetted before adoption (Spayed/Neutered, Rabies vaccine, FeLV vaccine, FVRCP vaccine, Deworming and microchipped) However if the cat you are adopting is a new arrival awaiting a spay/neuter appointment, or a kitten not of age to be safely altered, you will be required to fill out a spay/neuter agreement and pay a $50 spay/neuter deposit. This $50 is fully refunded as soon as you send us proof of their spay/neuter.

  • Kittens : $150
  • Cats 1 year and older : $125

All adoption fees are non-refundable. However, if a dog/cat does not work out within the first 7 days then you are welcome to try out another dog to see if it may be a better fit.
